I shed my skin akin to a snake
and a new person began to wake
refined reason and refined hate
as old life began to dissipate.
I brought mayhem I brought pain
but now I see it’s not in vain
and I see the new face
a decent body, good looking frame
brought by youth’s ignorance and a gambler’s
zero to one game
and the winner stands tall
right in front of fate
for breathing man and a corpse can’t relate.
But I can for I am one and the same
in the eyes of the entrapping sand
called time.
Skin will grow
as time will flow
scales turn to bulky sacks
and bulky sacks turn to dust
when protection from life’s viciousness
isn’t needed anymore.
Ashes to ashes
I shall bite my dust
with the grace of one who has lived through it all
and never stopped dying
I made up my mind
but thank you for trying.
