we had another one poured
before we got bored
before this got old,
because we weren’t sold
on the idea of spending time together.
she tried to downplay the tragedy
of loosing interest
with some much needed humor and laughs
ingenius
but no genuity.
I had memorized the pattern of her words
before she even reached in the depths, for them
for I was so bad at expressing feelings
I just used sounds and hugs
but hers came at a surprise.
And then we had another one poured
searching for the gold
that we once found in each other’s hearts.
But the rush hour was done
and the Cali weather was a mirage.
Her mind was a mine
that required time
but I was getting all sweaty and suffocating
in that deep cave.
Smoke and her breath gave me a black lung.
We had another one poured
I have sought it to be finally over.
But the breathless charm
had done my heart some harm
and I was swept away.
Never was a creep
but every time you’d breathe
rationale would pass out,
yet when I had some space
I would regain my face.
Along with freedom of thought.
We had the final one poured
I was always taught
to avoid strangers.
And I didn’t recognize you anymore
the mind had its share
but the heart especially sore.
It was time to let you go
the liquid flow, with which you’ve passed through me
gone along the Riviera of the undoubtedly beautiful past
where we just aren’t present anymore.
Sorry.
With love from the mad drunk.
